A quiet four-mile circuit around Yorkshire's second-largest natural lake in lonely Raydale, with lake access for a paddle and a return above the tumbling River Bain, England's shortest river. Most fields hold sheep or cattle so dogs should be on a lead, and the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust asks for a short lead at all times within the lakeshore nature reserve to protect wintering and breeding birds. Pay-to-park at the Low Blean shoreside.

THE SMALL PRINTLeads through the grazed fields, and a short lead at all times inside the lakeshore nature reserve.
