An easy 3.2-mile circular of about ninety minutes, climbing 70 metres up the wooded glen behind Peasholm, crossing to the Cinder Track and dropping back down to Scalby Mills and the North Bay promenade. Start at the Peasholm Glen gates on Columbus Ravine, where street parking is free beyond the park and the number 3 bus runs the length of the bay. The glen is enclosed woodland with a beck running through it and is good off-lead ground once past the park, but Peasholm Park itself is lead-only, and the central North Bay sands are shut to dogs in summer.

THE SMALL PRINTThe signed central stretch of Scarborough North Bay beach is closed to dogs from 1 May to 30 September under North Yorkshire Council's dog control public spaces protection order, with a £100 fixed penalty. Between those dates use the northern end of the sands towards Scalby Mills or the beach beyond the chalets, both open to dogs all year. Dogs must be on the lead inside Peasholm Park itself, which is a wildfowl reserve.
