A plain town-centre drinking pub at 38-40 Cleveland Street, a couple of minutes south of Doncaster Market and within easy reach of the Frenchgate interchange if you have come in by train or bus with a dog. It is one room and a bar rather than a set of dining areas, which makes it easy to find a corner out of the way of the door. The nearest proper leg-stretch is Elmfield Park off Bennetthorpe, about a mile out towards the racecourse. Craft Union lists this pub among its dog-friendly locals and states that water bowls are kept behind the bar; the wording is the group's rather than the pub's own.
