The empty sand on the island's north-east shore, twenty minutes on foot from the village past the Lough and the lime kilns. No seasonal dog ban applies here, as nowhere on this coast outside Newbiggin and Blyth. It sits inside the Lindisfarne National Nature Reserve, so keep well clear of roosting and feeding birds, and watch the causeway clock.

THE SMALL PRINTNo seasonal restriction under the Northumberland County Council (Dog Control) Public Spaces Protection Order in force from 31 January 2026; the county's only restricted beach stretches are at Newbiggin by the Sea and Blyth, 1 May to 30 September, fixed penalty £100. The whole shore is within a national nature reserve, where close control near birds matters year round.
