Runswick Bay easy-access clifftop

A gentle 1.6-mile there-and-back of under an hour along the bank top above the bay on a firm, mostly level surfaced path with only 35 metres of rise, benches at intervals and no stiles or steps. Start at the bank top pay-and-display car park, which has accessible bays and a toilet block, and the number 5 bus between Whitby and Staithes stops on the main road above. It is the best walk here for an old or three-legged dog, with big views and no scrambling, but the seaward side is unfenced turf above the cliff and the only water is what you carry, so keep to the path side.
