This cottage is set within the wonderful rolling West Dorset countryside well placed as a base for touring both the Somerset and Dorset countryside and coastal attractions. The local area offers plenty to see and do including The Cerne Abbas Chalk Giant Hardy s Monument Abbotsbury Tropical Gardens and Swannery West Bay (Broadchurch fame) many National Trust properties and much more. Also within easy reach are the seaside resorts and beaches of Weymouth Swanage and Studland Chesil Beach Charmouth and Lyme Regis. The cottage is conveniently located just half a mile away from the village of Halstock with its quintessential church and village shop and is also close to the historic market towns of Dorchester and Bridport which offer a wide range of amenities. Upon arrival park on the gravel area in front of the cottage and enter the property through the oak porch. Doors from the hallway lead to the kitchen and the lounge/diner. The kitchen has everything you require for your holiday home cooking requirements and is well-equipped with an electric oven and hob microwave dishwasher fridge/freezer and washing machine. The light and airy lounge/dining area has stylish furnishings and a Smart TV this room is a perfect place to relax after a day s adventures. French doors lead out from the lounge to the south facing conservatory which overlooks the enclosed patio and enjoys far reaching rural views over the farm land and beyond making it a lovely spot to unwind in. From the hallway stairs lead up to the first floor where you will find the bedrooms consisting of one double and one king-size both overlooking the rear garden. Completing the cosy feel running throughout is the family bathroom with a shower over the bath and WC also on the first floor. Heading outside there is an enclosed patio area with a BBQ upon request and garden furniture ideal for some al fresco dining. There is off-road parking for two cars. During the lambing season guests are invited to see the newborn lambs by arrangement with the owner. 1 dog welcome (please note dogs are not permitted upstairs, a stairgate is provided) and must be kept under strict control when outside of the property due to livestock on the farm. Visitors to the historic village of Minterne Magna will delight in exploring the stunning Minterne Gardens which host a wide range of flowering plants set in a beautiful Himalayan valley surrounded by rolling Dorset countryside. Home to a notable collection of rhododendrons the garden is of particular merit in the spring with daffodils bluebells primulas and ornamental cherries blooming under the canopy of trees. Visit the famous hillside giant in the nearby village of Cerne Abbas (2 miles) where you will also find local amenities. 10 miles away is the county town of Dorchester which has a bustling high street cinemas and museums. Charming Sherborne is also within 10 miles and has two castles and a striking abbey. This property forms part of the Minterne Estate and sits within an idyllic walled garden which is accessed on foot. A private entrance gives access to the open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner. This characterful room has a fireplace fitted with a wood burner Smart TV DVD player Record player radio and Amazon Alexa a lovely space to relax and to dine just opposite. The kitchen is set to the right of the room and has a gas hob and electric oven microwave fridge freezer and dishwasher. Just next door is a wet room with a shower and WC. Winding cottage-style stairs rise to the first floor and a mezzanine style bedroom which is set into the eaves. This spacious room has a super-king-size bed and lovely views making it a wonderful space for two. Heading outside you will find a terrace coal BBQ (coal fully stocked for your stay) with furniture and privacy screening. Beyond this there is a shared walled garden with a lawn tennis court and a heated outdoor pool with a changing room. The pool is open from April to October with access permitted between 10 am and 6 pm daily and access is private for Pool House guests between 12 noon and 4 pm). Access to Minterne Gardens is included daily from 10 am to 6 pm. There is ample off-road parking within a shared yard approx. 20m from the property. Shared outdoor heated pool (please bring pool towels), with changing room, from April until the end of October, between 10am 12 noon and 4pm 6pm daily each property will have a designated 2 hour slot each day (varying times) for the pool, with sole use of the pool times will be displayed in the cottage on arrival . Dogs must be kept on a lead when in the main gardens. When Lord Digby is in residence, guests are welcome to have a complimentary tour of the house and learn about the history.
