We have not checked this one yet

Royal Hotel is a real pub in Aldbrough, and it is here so you know it exists. But we have not been able to find a dog policy for it that we would stand behind, so we are not going to guess at one. No verdict, no stamp, no date.

If this is your business, tell us whether dogs are welcome and we will put a stamp on it — free, and it stays free. Claim this page.

If you have been and you know the answer, tell us and we will go and confirm it.

Beach DOGS WELCOME

Aldbrough Beach

HU11 4RQ
Dogs allowed all year

Aldbrough sits on the fastest-eroding coastline in Europe and the beach below it carries no dog restriction of any kind. The East Riding of Yorkshire Council dog Public Spaces Protection Order names only four beaches in the whole county, Bridlington North, Bridlington South, Hornsea and Withernsea, so Aldbrough is outside the order entirely and dogs may run here off lead all year round. Access is down the ramp at the seaward end of Seaside Road, past the caravan parks, and the cliff top itself is genuinely dangerous: the road has been shortened repeatedly, houses have gone over the edge, and the boulder clay slumps without warning after rain. Walk on the sand rather than at the foot of the cliff, check the tide because the beach narrows against the clay at high water, and treat any fenced or taped section as closed.

Walk DOGS WELCOME

Aldbrough Beach north to Great Cowden

HU11 4RQ
3.2 MI · 1H 35M · 95% OFF-ROAD

An out-and-back on open sand with no dog order of any kind over it, because the council Public Spaces Protection Order covers four named beaches in the county and Aldbrough is not one of them. Drop down the ramp at the seaward end of Seaside Road, past the caravan parks, and turn north with the clay cliff on your left. This is the sharp end of Europe’s fastest-eroding coastline: Aldbrough has lost its cliff road repeatedly, bungalows have gone over the edge within living memory, and at Great Cowden a mile and a half on you pass the remains of the old Rolston army range where concrete blocks and pillboxes lie on the beach where they fell. Turn round there. Go on a falling tide, because at high water the sea reaches the clay in several places and there is no way up; keep well out from the cliff foot throughout.
