Directions to the start →

Six miles of field paths with short road sections from Romanby village green out to Ainderby Steeple and back, around two and a half hours, crossing the River Wiske and its tributaries three times. Start from the tree-lined green at Romanby, where there is street parking, or walk out from Northallerton station in a quarter of an hour. There is only one stile but twelve gates, the path skirts the edge of Romanby golf course where a dog should be kept to heel, and the field sections are working pasture with cattle as well as sheep.
