Directions to the start →

Five miles and around two and a half hours on field paths, a green lane and quiet single-track road, out from Malthouse Broad past the flint tower of St Helen's, the cathedral of the Broads, to South Walsham and back by Panxworth. Start at the Norfolk Wildlife Trust car park signed off the village road, postcode NR13 6HY, which closes at 5pm, and note that the free staithe parking at the water is only a handful of spaces. The boardwalk trail out to the floating visitor centre is assistance dogs only, so dogs stay on the roads and field paths, where the going is flat with kissing gates rather than stiles and cattle often graze the marsh edge.

THE SMALL PRINTNorfolk Wildlife Trust permits assistance dogs only on the Ranworth Broad reserve, including the boardwalk through the carr woodland and reed fen, and in the floating visitor centre. The village staithe, roads and surrounding field paths are open to dogs.
