Airmyn Clock Tower and the Aire and Ouse confluence

Airmyn stands on the last bend of the Aire before it empties into the Ouse, and this circuit walks both rivers from the Gothic clock tower the Percy family put up in 1868. High Street runs behind the flood wall with the Aire sliding past below, and at the bottom of the village the two rivers meet in a huge brown fork with Boothferry Bridge upstream and Goole's dock cranes downstream. The return is along the top of the Ouse flood bank, a single grassy track with nothing between you and the tidal water, then back on the lane past St David's church. The bank is grazed in places and both rivers are fast, deep and tidal, so this is lead country near the edge.
