A road pub at 32 Pontefract Road on the eastern side of Barnsley, on the way out towards Stairfoot and Monk Bretton. Craft Union lists it among its dog friendly pubs, with water bowls kept behind the bar, and it opens 11am to 11pm with sport on the screens and food available. Dearne Valley Country Park and Barnsley Main are both within a mile down the same road, which makes this the closest pub to the end of either walk.
