A three-part local on Palm Street in Old Town, north west of Barnsley centre, with a small lounge on the left as you go in, the main room in the middle and a conservatory extension on the right. The conservatory and the beer garden both look out over a bowling green, which is the quiet corner to take a dog to when the main room has the football on. Parking and disabled access are both on site and the ground is level. Old Town sits on the ridge above the Barnsley Canal line at Gawber. CAMRA branch surveyors list the pub as dog friendly; it publishes no policy of its own.
