A town-centre pub at 22 Market Place with an interior CAMRA rates as historically interesting, including a classic original bar, five handpulls and Timothy Taylor's Landlord as the regular. There is a quiet back room away from the bar which is the best spot for a dog except on live music nights, folk on Tuesdays and bands on Friday and Saturday, plus an outside drinking area shared with the Rum Rooms next door. It sits on the edge of the market a few minutes from the Minster and the riverside path along the Don. The dog welcome is recorded on CAMRA's WhatPub survey of September 2024 rather than published by the pub.
