A two-mile circuit of rough common on the low fells north of Ulverston, between Lowick Green and the Crake valley, with open pools, bracken and outcrops of slate. Cumbria Wildlife Trust publishes the reserve as dogs on a lead. There are no grazing animals here, but the paths are uneven, rocky and steep in places, wet all year and heavily overgrown with bracken by August, and there is open water on the site. Parking is a stretch of verge, so it never takes more than two or three cars.

THE SMALL PRINTCumbria Wildlife Trust publishes the reserve as dogs "On a lead". Uneven, rocky and steep paths, wet ground and open water pools on the site.
