A two-room pub at 8 West Laith Gate near the railway station, with a front public bar and a rear lounge that was originally the music room, and an interior built to 1934 plans that survived a 2026 refurbishment intact, down to the leaded glass, fixed seating and bell pushes. Three cask ales are usually on, mostly from local breweries, and it is cash only. The entrance step is steep with a grab rail and there are single steps inside, so an elderly dog will need a lift; there is a small yard at the back. CAMRA's WhatPub survey of February 2026 records the pub as dog friendly with no room excluded, which is the published evidence rather than the pub's own words.
