A sixteenth-century inn under Melbreak between Loweswater and Crummock Water, brewing its own beer and serving walkers who have come over the fell. Dogs may come into the bar areas but not between 5.30pm and 10pm when food service is at its height, and they are not allowed in the guest bedrooms at all.
