A large wood-panelled and beamed pub on Main Road at the eastern end of Newport, roomier than the Jolly Sailor down the street and the better bet if you want space at a table with a wet dog. Newport was built on the brickyards the Market Weighton Canal was dug to serve, and the canal trail and Broomfleet Washlands are both within a mile and a half.
