A village-centre pub near the top of Hallgate in Cottingham, split between a traditional public bar and a quieter lounge, with a beer garden and a side courtyard and the old brewery behind converted into a function room. It keeps four cask ales, runs a Tuesday quiz and hosts the annual Cottingham music festival. Dogs are allowed, but the record is specific that they are confined to the public bar, so the lounge and the food side are not open to them. That restriction comes from CAMRA's WhatPub survey record rather than the pub's own words.

THE SMALL PRINTCAMRA's WhatPub entry lists the pub's dog facility as "Dog friendly (public bar only)". The lounge and the dining side are therefore not confirmed for dogs. The record was last surveyed on 17 February 2023 and last updated on 1 June 2026. Cottingham is East Riding of Yorkshire Council territory, not Hull City Council, so East Riding's dog control Public Spaces Protection Order applies on the streets outside; it excludes dogs only from four named North Sea beach stretches at Bridlington, Hornsea and Withernsea.
