Holmpton Beach

Withernsea · HU19 2RA
RIGHT NOW (JUL) · OPEN — AND EVERY OTHER MONTH TOO

Two miles south of Withernsea the houses stop and Holmpton gives you the emptiest sand on the Holderness coast, with no dog restriction whatsoever. The council's dog Public Spaces Protection Order covers only four beaches in the county and this is not one of them, so there is no summer ban and no lead rule here at any time. Access is on foot from the village, past St Nicholas' Church and down the track from the end of Chapel Lane, and the cliff steps are informal and change from year to year as the clay slips. There is no car park, only verge space in the village, and no facilities of any kind. On a falling tide you can walk south past the old RAF Holmpton bunker towards Out Newton and Dimlington with the highest cliffs on this coast above you.
