Free beach car park at Haverigg, perhaps a hundred spaces on gravel and grass; it fills by late morning on any hot day and there is overflow along Main Street

Out along the sand west from the Haverigg beach car park with Black Combe filling the view inland, then back through the marram dunes and along the Haverigg pool into the village. At low water the sand is firm and enormous and a dog can run for a mile without meeting a road; at high water the walk is on the dune paths instead, which are soft going. There is no seasonal dog ban on this beach. The play area at Haverigg is the one place on the route dogs may not go.

Under Cumberland Council Public Spaces Protection Order (No. 1) 2024, Land at Haverigg, Millom (LA18 4GY) is a Schedule C dog exclusion area and St Luke's Church, Haverigg (LA18 4HB) is a Schedule B dogs-on-lead area. Breach is liable on summary conviction to a fine not exceeding level 3 on the standard scale.
