Three hectares of open fen on the A6 south of Milnthorpe, just past the Lakeland Wildlife Oasis, kept wet all year and never drained. Cumbria Wildlife Trust publishes the reserve as dogs on a lead. This is not a stroll: there are no waymarked routes, the ground is very wet especially in winter, and the tussocky vegetation makes walking extremely difficult, so wellingtons are the Trust's own recommendation. There is no car park either, only the verge of the slip road off the A6, and you must not block the field gates.

THE SMALL PRINTCumbria Wildlife Trust publishes the reserve as dogs "On a lead". No waymarked routes, and the Trust warns the site is "very wet especially in winter" with tussocky ground that makes walking extremely difficult.
