Georgian coaching inn on Thirsk's cobbled market place, a short stroll from the James Herriot museum quarter. Dogs stay in designated pet-friendly rooms (up to two per room, 15 pounds a night) and are welcome in the bar and specified dining areas, with treats, dog beds and even gourmet doggy meals laid on. A sound base for exploring both the Vale of Mowbray and the Hambleton Hills.
These are the parts only the business can add. We check the dog policy and stamp the date — photos, prices and their own words are theirs to put in, and this listing is waiting for them.
The rooms that take dogs, and where they sleep.
Can the dog actually sleep here, and what does it cost.
What a night actually costs, so nobody has to ring to find out.
How many dog-friendly rooms, whether they are ground floor, where the dog sleeps.
Claiming fills every box above, and lets you reply to reviews when they open. £15 a month, no contract, and it never changes the verdict — the stamp stays ours.
A small independent cafe on the southern side of Thirsk Market Place, doing coffee, cake and cooked breakfasts from mid-morning. It is listed as dog friendly, so dogs are welcome inside with you. Closed on Mondays.
Flat 4.3-mile circular from Thirsk market place following Cod Beck north to South Kilvington, through Underwood Plantation and back through New Thirsk, with fine views to the Hambleton Hills. The quiet riverside and country paths make an easy dog walk, and the beck's shallows are popular for a paddle. Field sections cross grazing land, so keep dogs close where stock are out.
An independent coffee shop on Millgate, a few steps off Thirsk Market Place, known for fresh food and properly made coffee. Thirsk Tourist Information records it as dogs welcome, so yours sits with you inside rather than at a pavement table. Daytime only, closing mid-afternoon.
Nobody has written one for The Golden Fleece Hotel. If you have been with the dog, you would be the first — and the first review is the one everybody reads.
