A level wooden boardwalk running beside the River Derwent through ancient broadleaved woodland, thick with wild garlic and wood anemone in spring — the valley is a National Nature Reserve. Two easy miles from the Old Man's Mouth car park on the East Ayton to Hackness road, with seats and viewing spots along the way.
