Parking
Free roadside parking on Church Lane at the entrance; the site itself has open access with barriers rather than a car park, so on a fine Sunday you may end up parking further back into the estate

The reclaimed ground of Dinnington colliery, which closed in 1992 and is now woodland, wetland and meadow owned by The Land Trust and looked after with The Conservation Volunteers. The main path network is surfaced and mostly wider than two and a half metres, with narrower unsurfaced trails running off it through the trees; gradients range from flat to one in ten in places. Access is open, with barriers at the entrances that still let motorised buggies through. The entrance is on Church Lane at the eastern edge of Dinnington.

THE SMALL PRINTThe Land Trust's own site page says simply "Dogs welcome" and sets no lead condition. Rotherham Council's only dog order is The Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council's (Dog Fouling) Public Spaces Protection Order, renewed on 29 January 2025 for three years, which makes it an offence to fail to remove dog faeces from any land it covers; fixed penalty up to £100, or a fine up to £1,000 on conviction. Rotherham publishes no order requiring dogs on leads and no order excluding dogs from parks, so there is no lead requirement here.
