Yorkshire Water states there is no car park at the reservoir itself and that roadside parking is possible; in practice people use the verges on New Road at the dam end (S6 6SQ) and the village parking

Forty-seven hectares of open water inside the Peak District National Park boundary, five miles from the middle of Sheffield, with a made-up perimeter path that was widened and resurfaced so wheelchairs and buggies can get round it. Three rowing clubs and the Viking Sailing Club use the water, so there is always something moving on it. Yorkshire Water asks for dogs on a lead and off the water: it states plainly that it is not safe for dogs to swim here or drink from it, because of blue-green algae, cold water and machinery under the surface. The circuit starts and finishes in Low Bradfield, where there are pubs, a cafe and public toilets, and the going is level all the way round.

THE SMALL PRINTYorkshire Water's visitor rules for Damflask: "don't swim, take your litter home, stick to the path, keep your dog on a lead, clean up after your dog, don't light fires or BBQs." On dogs in the water it is explicit: "No, it's not safe for dogs to swim in Damflask Reservoir and they shouldn't drink the water. Blue-green algae can form on the surface, which is poisonous and can kill them." This is the landowner's rule; Sheffield has no dog control PSPO, and the only fineable dog offence is fouling at £50.
