No photo yet · the business adds these when they claim

Fourteenth-century mill house at the top of Polperro, which is where the village car park is and therefore where most walks start. Dogs are very welcome in the accommodation as well as the pub, on a lead in the public areas and off the beds. Bring your own dog bedding — the inn asks guests to supply it.

THE SMALL PRINTDogs must be on a lead at all times in public areas, kept off furniture and beds, and never left in the room unattended. Guests must bring their own dog bedding.

Walk SOME LIMITS

Lantivet Bay and Lansallos

5 MI · 3H 10M · 86% OFF-ROAD

Five miles of National Trust coast west of Polperro, around three hours with 340 metres of climbing over a succession of small combes, and the emptiest cliffs on this side of Cornwall. It starts at the Trust car park beside Lansallos church, a field with an honesty box reached by a long single-track lane, and drops through the smugglers’ cutting to the cove. This is the one to avoid with a big dog: about half a dozen stone stiles are simply not navigable by dogs, several with long drops on the far side, and there is livestock in the fields near Lantic Bay.

Walk DOGS WELCOME

Talland Bay to Polperro over Chapel Cliff

2.5 MI · 1H 35M · 76% OFF-ROAD

A compact two and a half miles between Talland Bay and Polperro harbour, an hour and a half, but steep enough at both ends to earn its moderate to strenuous grade with 160 metres of climbing. Start at the Talland Bay car park above the beach, a small pay-and-display run by the parish, and come back over the fields past Talland church; the alternative is the big Crumplehorn car park at Polperro and walking it the other way round. No stiles and no livestock on the route, which is rare, but Chapel Cliff is a genuine cliff edge with no fence and the descent into Polperro is on steps.

Pub DOGS WELCOME

The Three Pilchards

PL13 2QZ
No reviews yet

Seventeenth-century fisherman's pub on Polperro's quay with a rooftop beer garden looking over the harbour. Dogs are always welcome and the pub makes a point of it, calling itself a stop for walkers and their four-legged companions. The lanes down are narrow and busy in season, so keep a short lead.
