Sand and groynes either side of the pier, under the church tower and the cliff-top gardens, with crab boats hauled up on the east beach. This is one of the few North Norfolk beaches with a summer dog exclusion, and it is properly signed and enforced. Out of season it is one of the best winter beach walks in the county, west towards East Runton.
THE SMALL PRINTPublic Spaces Protection Order NNDC003 (in force 1 May 2024 for three years): "A person in control of a dog shall not at any time during the period 1st May to 30th September take a dog onto, or permit the dog to enter or remain on, any land defined in red hatch" - the signed exclusion zone on Cromer beach and promenade - and dogs must be kept on a lead over the same dates on the blue-hatched land. Breach is an offence carrying a fine not exceeding level 3 on the standard scale (£1,000), or a fixed penalty notice. Assistance dogs are exempt.
