Black Hambleton and the Drove Road
A serious 10.3-mile day with 400 metres of ascent, close to five hours, climbing on to Scarth Wood Moor and then following the old Hambleton Drove Road south over the shoulder of Black Hambleton; broad stony tracks for most of it, with wet peat between. Start from Osmotherley village green, where there is a small pay-and-display car park and buses from Northallerton. Cod Beck and the reservoir give water in the first mile but there is almost none after that, sheep range the whole of the drove road, and leads are required on the open moor from 1 March to 31 July for ground-nesting birds.

The village is also the starting point for the picturesque Lyke Wake Walk a 40 mile walk across the moors to the coastal village of Ravenscar making it a great choice for those who enjoy outdoor pursuits. The Cleveland Way National Trail also runs through the village while Wainwright s famous coast to coast walk passes close by. For those looking for more restful activities the area is home to a range of interesting sights and attractions including the town of Helmsley Rievaulx Abbey Mount Grace Priory Lightwater Valley Theme Park and the North Yorkshire Moors Railway The front door of this charming characterful property opens directly into the kitchen/diner well-equipped for all the budding chefs with electric oven and hob washing machine/dryer dishwasher fridge/freezer microwave and TV a great place to enjoy good food and conversation. Electric oven and induction hob, washing machine, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, Tassimo coffee machine and microwave. Smart TVs in the lounge and kitchen. Wood burner(1st basket of logs included). This property is located on a steep hill, in winter weather extra care is required on the road.
Cote Ghyll Caravan & Camping Park
A sheltered valley holiday park just above Osmotherley village, with touring pitches, camping and hire caravans a short walk from both the pubs and Cod Beck Reservoir. On-lead dogs are welcome across the park (maximum two in the pet-friendly hire caravans), with a dog wash provided, though dogs are not allowed inside the park buildings. The Cleveland Way passes virtually along the site boundary.
