Seventy acres of eighteenth-century parkland below a Georgian hall at Cawthorne, with a chain of ornamental lakes strung along the valley bottom and a walled garden holding a national pear collection. Barnsley Museums runs it and states that dogs may be exercised off lead on the car park side of the ha-ha, must be on a lead on the hall side and in the walled gardens, and are not admitted to the museum building. There is a water bowl outside the hall and the Pear Tree Pantry in the walled garden is described as dog and child friendly. The park, gardens, cafe and car park are open seven days a week all year; the car park is £1 for two hours and £5 all day.

THE SMALL PRINTBarnsley Museums: dogs may be exercised off lead on the side of the ha-ha closest to the main car park, must be kept on a lead on the side nearest the hall and in the walled gardens, and are not allowed in the museum building. Barnsley's borough-wide dog control PSPO applies: faeces must be removed immediately, a means of picking up must be carried, and a dog must go on a lead when an authorised officer asks. Dogs may not be taken into the fenced children's play area.
