Seventy acres of eighteenth-century parkland below a Georgian hall at Cawthorne, with a chain of ornamental lakes strung along the valley bottom and a walled garden holding a national pear collection. Barnsley Museums runs it and states that dogs may be exercised off lead on the car park side of the ha-ha, must be on a lead on the hall side and in the walled gardens, and are not admitted to the museum building. There is a water bowl outside the hall and the Pear Tree Pantry in the walled garden is described as dog and child friendly. The park, gardens, cafe and car park are open seven days a week all year; the car park is £1 for two hours and £5 all day.
A cafe built specifically for dog walkers on the edge of Cannon Hall Farm at Cawthorne, sitting outside the farm's paying compound so you can use it without buying farm admission. Dogs are welcome inside, not just at outdoor tables, and there is a separate menu of treats for them; the room seats over 150 after its extension, which is unusual for a dog-friendly cafe of any kind. It opens at 9am daily, serving hot food and drink until 4.30pm, and runs a Wednesday Walkies loyalty group that meets from 9am to 11am for ten per cent off. The Cannon Hall parkland walk starts a few minutes away down Bark House Lane.
A cafe built specifically for dogs on the outskirts of Cannon Hall Farm at Cawthorne, sitting outside the paid farm attraction so you do not need a ticket to use it. Its own page is unambiguous: dogs are welcome inside and there are treats for them. It is the obvious stop after a circuit of Cannon Hall parkland, which is on the other side of Bark House Lane, and it does breakfast and brunch rather than only cake. Note the distinction that matters here: the farm attraction itself takes no dogs at all, only assistance dogs, so this cafe is the whole of the dog offer on the site.
