Byram Park Road and the old estate wall

Byram Park Road runs east out of the village along the edge of what was the Ramsden family's park, laid out to a plan Capability Brown drew in 1782 and long since ploughed back to farmland, though the lake and the kitchen garden survive on private ground. The walk is the lane itself: tarmac, level, pavement for the first few hundred yards out of Sutton and then verge only, with open arable on both sides and the A1 audible to the west. There is no dog control order covering this parish beyond the North Yorkshire fouling requirement and its £100 penalty, so no lead order and no exclusion applies, but the park is private and everything either side of the lane is somebody's field. Turn round at the field gates where the metalled lane runs out.
