The sand east of the village, running from the Aln estuary mouth south towards Buston Links, with dune paths from the top of the village. No seasonal dog ban applies here in any month. The estuary channel shifts and runs fast on the ebb, so the open beach is the better side for a dog in the water.
THE SMALL PRINTNo seasonal restriction under the Northumberland County Council (Dog Control) Public Spaces Protection Order in force from 31 January 2026; the county's only restricted beach stretches are at Newbiggin by the Sea and Blyth, 1 May to 30 September, fixed penalty £100.
