This property is located in the centre of the popular village of Godshill within walking distance of the village s numerous tea rooms and shops. The village has the relaxed feel of times gone by with no chains but instead an array of independently owned shops specialising in a range of goods including chocolate fossils and gems and local cider. The island is known for its excellent choice of beaches and the seaside village of Ventnor lies just five miles from the property. Ventnor seafront is a lovely traditional beach where visitors can hire deckchairs and enjoy icecreams from one of the numerous small shops which line the seafront. A pub at one end of the beach offers sea views and makes a great place for lunch or just for a drink to escape the afternoon sun. Upon arrival at this Grade II listed characterful cottage guests will find a choice of rooms in which they can unwind after their journey. The first of these the main lounge is a charming room offering a plethora of original features including a large ornamental stone fireplace alongside carefully chosen furnishings which complement the cottage s period style. The Smart TV can also be found here making it a great space to relax at the end of a busy day. A spacious conservatory provides guests with a second relaxation space: a beautifully sunny room with a flagstoned floor a choice of seating and access to the property s courtyard garden. As well as the dining room there is also some dining space in the country-style kitchen which is well-equipped with an oven hob microwave dishwasher and fridge whilst the washing machine and freezer are kept in the separate utility room. Downstairs you will also find the king-size bedroom which is accessed via a hallway and deep step off of the conservatory. Three bedrooms can be found up the cottage style staircase on the first floor. All of these are delightful double rooms with the master bedroom benefitting from an en-suite shower room with shower and WC. The main bathroom can also be found on the first floor and offers a free-standing bath and WC. We regret that it is not possible to use the open fires Outside the property enjoys a small courtyard-style garden which makes a great space for enjoying alfresco dining and comes complete with garden furniture and a BBQ. There is parking for two cars in the shared courtyard to the rear of the property and there is additional roadside parking available on a narrow and quiet lane within a few minutes walk. This cottage is perfectly located for those who want to enjoy the peace and tranquillity of the countryside whilst still being within easy reach of beaches attractions pubs and shops. The village of Godshill just two miles from the cottage is a pretty place with attractive cottages numerous tea rooms independent shops selling artisan products and a specialist fossil shop which is also the base for booking fossil-hunting tours. To the east of the property meanwhile the seaside village of Shanklin offers a sandy beach backed by food outlets amusements and an adventure golf course whilst Shanklin Old Village itself is a pretty collection of gift shops and cafes. The main entrance to this property is accessed from the lane via a set of ten external steps which bring guests to the door at the side of the cottage. Once inside guests can make themselves at home after their journey in the homely dual-aspect lounge which has two inviting sofas a wood burner exposed floorboards and a large flat screen Smart TV. There is a separate dining room which is ideal for lingering over meals whilst the kitchen looks out over the garden and is equipped with an electric oven and hob microwave fridge/freezer dishwasher washing machine and Nespresso coffee machine. A separate tumble dryer meanwhile can be found in a separate utility area. The shower room with its shower and WC can also be found on the ground floor whilst upstairs there are three bedrooms the first of which is a charming room with a king size bed and feature fireplace. The second bedroom is a pleasant twin room whilst the third is a restful single room to which an additional single pull out bed can be added to accommodate a sixth guest. The bathroom on this floor offers a bath and WC. The property is surrounded by gardens on three sides including a terraced patio seating area to the side which has garden furniture provided and a spacious lawn to the front and rear of the cottage which offers plenty of space to relax and play games. This stunning rural retreat on the island s south side provides guests with the ideal base to explore both the island s coast and countryside. A wonderful choice of walking and cycling routes is right outside the front door with direct access to a network of footpaths. Godshill is well-known for its charming thatched cottages independent shops tearooms pubs/restaurants and an intriguing model village (1 mile) and the popular market town of Newport with its wide variety of shops and medieval castle is well worth a visit (6.5 miles). Within 8 miles are the beautiful sandy beaches of the seaside towns of Sandown Shanklin and Ventnor. Ventnor Botanic Garden and Osborne House are both within 10 miles. The open-plan kitchen/lounge/diner greets you as you enter the lodge. This is the ideal place for preparing some home-cooked food before enjoying a romantic meal around the dining table and reminiscing about the day s adventures. After dinner you can look forward to relaxing on the comfortable sofa and watching your favourite movie on the Smart TV or simply reading a good book in your tranquil surroundings. All on one level the lodge also has a comfortable king-size bedroom with storage space and a lovely shower room where you can freshen up. Heading outside through the patio doors will take you to a private enclosed patio with views of the surrounding fields. There is outdoor furniture where you can relax and enjoy the sun fire up the BBQ and dine alfresco or sit and watch the spectacular sunsets.
