Chatsworth park circular

DE45 1PP
5 MI · 2H 45M · 90% OFF-ROAD

Five miles and about two and three quarter hours round Capability Brown's parkland, over the Derwent bridges, up to the Queen Mary's Bower side and back along the river through open pasture. Start from the main Chatsworth car park, which charges by the day and is free to Chatsworth members, or park free on the Baslow to Beeley road and walk in through the park gates. Dogs must be on a lead everywhere in the park and garden because of the deer and grazing sheep, they are not allowed in the farmyard or playground although tie-up posts are provided, and there are drinking stations by the toilets and in the Stables courtyard plus a dog-friendly area inside the cafe.

Walk SOME LIMITS

Stand Wood and the Hunting Tower

DE45 1PP
3.2 MI · 1H 50M · 96% OFF-ROAD

Three and a quarter miles and an hour and three quarters climbing the wooded scarp behind the house to the Elizabethan Hunting Tower, the aqueduct and the Emperor Lake, all on estate tracks. Start from the Chatsworth car park behind the stables and take the signed Stand Wood walk; the climb is 190 metres in the first mile and then almost level. Dogs must be on a lead throughout the estate because of the red and fallow deer, the lakes are the estate's water supply and fenced in places, and the Stables courtyard at the bottom has a drinking station and a dog-friendly seating area in the cafe.
