Tankersley · 1 checked
Somewhere to sleep that actually means "dogs welcome" — bowls out, no hidden surcharge surprises.
A seventeenth century manor house on Church Lane at Tankersley, set high with woodland behind it and a minute from junction 36 of the M1, with a free car park of its own so a dog comes out of the car onto grass rather than onto a main road. The hotel has the Woodman restaurant and a lounge bar downstairs and a spa and pool alongside the bedrooms, and the lane outside runs past Tankersley church into the field paths towards Pilley, Birdwell and the top of the Elsecar valley. Accor, which operates the hotel under its Mercure name, lists pets as welcome among the hotel services on its own page for the property, but publishes no charge, no limit on numbers and nothing about which rooms or which public areas dogs may use, so settle all of that when you book. That is the operator's own listing for the hotel rather than a written dog policy from the hotel itself.

ADD A PLACEKnow one we have missed?
Local knowledge beats desk research every time. Name the place and we will check it properly — the venue's own policy, confirmed, then stamped and dated like every other listing.
One short email when we add places or a council changes its beach rules. No noise, easy out.
