A famous crossroads inn on the fell above Ambleside, with its own Barngates Brewery and tarns to walk to from the door. Dogs are welcome in the bar without fuss and in some areas of the restaurant if you note it when booking; exactly one bedroom takes a dog, by prior arrangement.
