Okehampton · 2 checked & stamped
Days out where the dog is on the guest list, not tied up outside.
Quiet Forestry England woodland two miles north of Okehampton, with forest roads through beech and conifer above the Okement valley. Dogs are allowed and assistance dogs are welcome; there is no cafe and little else, which is rather the point on a busy August afternoon.
The ruins of the largest castle in Devon, on a wooded spur above the West Okement a mile south-west of the town centre. English Heritage's line is short and clear: dogs on leads are welcome, with no areas singled out as off limits, and the riverside walk below the keep continues towards the moor.
Know a Okehampton pub, cafe or place to stay that lets dogs in? Tell us and we will go and check it.
ADD A PLACEKnow one we have missed?
Local knowledge beats desk research every time. Name the place and we will check it properly — the venue's own policy, confirmed, then stamped and dated like every other listing.
One short email when we add places or a council changes its beach rules. No noise, easy out.
