Woodlands · 1 checked & stamped
Boots on. These are the Woodlands walks worth the drive, with lead rules and livestock warnings marked.
Woodland, wildflower ground and the old Highfields Lake on the north-west side of Doncaster near Woodlands, with paths leading on to Roman Ridge and Brodsworth Community Woodland if you want to make a longer day of it. The lake is fished, so the bank is set out in pegs and there are anglers on it in most weathers. Under the Doncaster PSPO the footpath around the lake is a lead-on stretch; the woodland and wildflower areas beyond it are not. Parking is the weak point and the council says so: there is very limited space on the slip road leading to the Woodlands Park Club before the club's own car park, and the practical answer is to leave the car at Doncaster North Park and Ride and walk the third of a mile in.
